Right now you are a little bundle wrapped up in my arms
And I would do anything to protect you from harm.
I pray one day you will be a protector,by God's grace and sovereignty;
A husband who is priest, prophet and provider for his wife and family.
May you be a man competent and capable, with the courage of conviction
Walking in integrity, an enemy to lies and wicked deception.
May you hate evil and abhor its ways
May evil be afraid when it sees your face.
May you be a man of prayer and deep in God's Word
Dependent in every sphere of life on the wisdom of the Lord.
May you live a life of voluntary self-sacrifice
Marked by service from strength modelled after Christ.
Son, may you have the delight that I now enjoy
Of welcoming another little boy
And helping him to grow to be a man in Christ our King.
A high calling indeed which is now just beginning....
