My Daughter's World
My Daughter's World
I look upon my little daughter’s sweet and smiling complexion
Her bright blue eyes looking full of wonder in every direction.
As I pick her up and hold her close to me
I wonder at the world those little eyes will see.
Confusion pervades and the whiff of death seems everywhere:
Will that little smile give way to dark despair?
Yet there is a truth deeper than the eye can comprehend
The God that formed those baby eyes holds history in his hand
An empty tomb shows all is going as is planned.
Satan may prowl around seeking to devour
But Jesus cast out the ruler of this world when it was His hour.
The Church will be built, and the gates of hell will be overpowered.
Fortified, I determine that I will do what I must do
To ensure my family will delight in the good, beautiful and true.
I trust that the God who gave me my beautiful wife, and my dear daughter too
Will call my daughter to Himself so He would be her Father too.
I pray that she may be salt and light, so holy and distinct
That there will be no darkness can ever make it extinct.
As my little girl grows up, and politicians rise and fall,
Jesus is not standing for election, and He governs all in all;
Try as he might Satan cannot have His way.
May she live full of joy knowing there will be a day
When our God and Saviour Jesus Christ will call us home to stay.
The Christian has this hope that none can take away.
